    Itinerary

    Day 1Bamako

    Arrival at Bamako international airport at 8am, pick-up by guide & driver, check-in & luggage drop-off at the hotel (and meeting with the other group members). Go sightseeing in Bamako: including the National Museum (or a puppet maker’s workshop), visit to a market, and the town’s landmarks like the Africa Tower, the Independency Monument, the railway station and viewpoint Point G.

    Day 2Ségou

    Morning departure and head to the direction of Ségou. Pay a visit to Segoukoro historical village, followed by a boat trip on the River Niger with visit to a fishing hamlet, lunch is eaten on the boat. Later drop-off at Soroblé bogolan center for an impression of the production of mud-cloth, and a visit to the colonial neighborhood, to the cathedral and to a traditional millet beer brewery (for a tasting).
    optional: around 4pm visit to the pottery market to see (with a bit of luck) the arrival and unloading of the pottery boats

    Day 3Somono Neighborhood

    Morning walk through the Somono neighborhood, followed by a visit to the week market, lunch (traditional Malian peanut sauce) is served at a the compound of a local family. During the afternoon departure for San, where the adobe mosque* is visited in the
    late afternoon.
    * visits to the interior of the mosque are reserved for Muslims

    Day 4 Djenné

    Around 6am departure for the road-trip to Djenné. Stroll through the old town along Koranic schools and mud structures, visit the sacred well, Tapama’s tomb, climb a rooftop for a good view on the Great Mosque. The regional dish Tion Tion which will be prepared by the wife of our guide is served for lunch. Early afternoon departure for the drive back to Ségou.
    * visits to the interior of the mosque are reserved for Muslims.

    Day 5Bamako

    Morning drive to Bamako. Afternoon visit is made to the sand fishermen. Get on board for a river trip and overnight on an island.

    Day 6Samoury Touré

    After breakfast we return to the shore and visit the INSP for the pre departure PCR test. Following on the test, we visit the statue of Samoury Touré and set out on a walk to visit one of Bamako’s best kept secrets: a waterfall. Lunch is eaten at the falls, where a refreshing bath can be taken.

    Day 7Manding Country

    Morning departure for Manding country, for a visit to the Arch of Kamadjan and the consultation cave and for a Dogon/Malinké mask dancing ceremony. Late afternoon pick-up of the PCR test certificates. Evening drop-off at the airport for the outbound flight.

    Early morning transfer to the airport.
