    Day 1Cape Town – Barrydale - Oudtshoorn

    We depart from Cape Town/Stellenbosch early on Friday morning. We travel to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, known as the Ostrich Capital of the World, via the scenic and spectacular Route 62, which is South Africa’s longest wine route. We will have a lovely lunch and wine tasting at a local winery, before experiencing the subterranean beauty of the Cango Caves on a guided adventure tour. For dinner, we will have an authentic braai (barbeque).

    Day 2Oudtshoorn - Mossel Bay

    After breakfast we head over the Robertson Mountain pass to enter the Garden Route at Mossel Bay. We can spend some time on the spectacular beaches, hike the Cape St. Blaize trail along the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean, or visit the famous Diaz Museum complex, commemorating the first known European exploration around the tip of Africa. The more adventurous can try a 10,000-foot tandem skydive or sandboarding the longest dune-ride in South Africa. Alternatively, join a historical cave tour on the coastline, showcasing early evidence for modern human behavior. In the afternoon we will go on a game drive on a private game reserve, hoping to see wildlife such as zebra, lion, antelope, and African buffalo. The evening will be spent in Mossel Bay, with options for several seaside restaurants for dinner.

    Day 3Mossel Bay - Tsitsikamma - Sedgefield

    Today we continue along the coastline to Tsitsikamma National Park. En route, we will stop at Bloukrans Bridge to view the world’s highest bungee jump bridge (216 meters). There is plenty of time for the adventure seekers among you to test their courage. The afternoon will be spent in Tsitsikamma National Park, with its unique combination of indigenous forest and beautiful Indian Ocean coastline. The park has a wide choice of activities for all, including hiking, crossing a suspension bridge, and swimming. Late afternoon you can spend exploring Sedgefield with its spectacular views and beaches. For dinner, we will
    have a traditional potjie (stew) made on the fire.

    Day 4Sedgefield - Wilderness - Cape Town

    On our final touring day, we will travel to Wilderness National Park, where we will explore the Touw River by canoe. After about 40 minutes, the canoes will be left for a 2km hike along a boardwalk, which will take us to a lovely waterfall and rock pools. After the canoeing, we will drive back to Cape Town, finishing the tour between 17:00 – 19:00 on Monday evening.

    Day 5South Africa - Cederberg Region

    This morning, you will be traveling from Cape Town, getting a quick peek of the Table Mountain from across Table Bay before heading to the Cederberg Region. The region not only boasts spectacular mountains and orange farms but is also the home of the Rooibos bush. You will visit a working Rooibos tea farm and discover the plants of Rooibos and Buchu that occur naturally in this part of South Africa. Growing only in this part of the world, it is indigenous to the mountain slopes of Cederberg. This herbal beverage has become a healthy and refreshing alternative to regular tea. You will have dinner at an overnight stop and get the opportunity to get acquainted with your guides while enjoying some South African hospitality.

    Day 6Namibia - Gariep (Orange) River

    Your first desert experience will be the Namaqualand in Northern Cape, which will accompany you in the days ahead. You will continue your journey north and travel to your camp on the banks of the Orange River. If you are traveling in the late summer months (July to August), you may encounter the wildflowers that have made this region famous. Crossing the border this afternoon, you will enter Namibia and settle in on the banks of the Gariep River.

    Day 7Namibia - Gariep (Orange) River - Fish River Canyon

    Beginning its flow in the Lesotho mountains, the Orange River is the longest river in South Africa that offers a unique contrast to the desert landscapes along its banks. It is named after the Dutch Royal House, but lately, it has been referred to by its original name—Gariep, which means “river” in the indigenous Khoekhoe language. The best way you’ll experience the Orange River is out on the water, and this morning, you’ll be able to join an optional canoe trip on the river. Around midday, you’ll depart the Orange River and head inland to your overnight stop in Fish River Canyon—the largest canyon in Africa and the second largest in the world. Once you arrive, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the ǀAi-ǀAis natural hot springs.

    Day 8Fish River Canyon, Quiver Tree Forest & Giants Playground

    This morning you’ll rise early and ride to the rim of the Fish River Canyon. There will be time to watch the morning sun ray filter through the canyon—a truly unique sight. After stretching your legs a bit with a gentle walk along the rim of the canyon, you’ll head for Keetmanshoop. The afternoon will be spent meandering through the Quiver Tree Forest and The Giants Playground—named for how the massive dolerite boulders have been placed on each other, creating rock formations and a series of mazes.

    Day 9Namib - Naukluft National Park

    Today, you’ll venture deeper into the Namib Desert on this overland journey. Your destination is the dune fields that cover the western reaches of the desert. Long dusty roads and sparsely populated farmlands offer you an insight into the vastness of rural Namibia. From the grasslands in the east to the red dunes of the west, the slowly changing landscapes represent the many faces of this desert country. Tonight, you’ll camp on the doorstep of the dune fields and fall asleep to the unique calls of the elusive barking geckos (lizards, endemic to western Africa).

    Day 10Sossusvlei Dunes - Namib - Naukluft National Park

    A brisk climb up Dune 45 offers you the perfect vantage point to marvel at the changing colors of the desert. Once satisfied, you’ll descend this famous dune and enjoy a hearty breakfast before catching a 4×4 transfer into Sossusvlei. Here, you will spend time on foot visiting the pans at Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Tonight, you’ll empty the red sand from your shoes and spend the night under the magnificent desert stars, knowing that you have spent a full-day enjoying the wonders of this harsh land.

    Day 11Sossusvlei-Walvis Bay & Swakopmund

    Namibia is a country of contrasts. Today we will move from desert to sea. On our way, we will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse the Gaub and the Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry river bed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side and watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before us. Having arrived at the coast, we will make a stop in Walvis Bay to enjoy the view of flamingos and other birds in the lagoons. We overnight in Swakopmund. Dinner tonight is at the client’s own expense in a local restaurant.

    Day 12Swakopmund-Twyfelfontein

    In the morning, we depart from the coastal town of Swakopmund and continue our safari along the skeleton coast. Along the way, we will visit the shipwreck and proceed to the Cape Cross Seal colony. After visiting the seals, we will turn east into the desert, towards Brandberg Damaraland, one of the most magnificent and majestic places in Namibia. In this area, you can find elephants, giraffes, ostriches, and a variety of antelopes!

    Day 13Damaraland- Windhoek

    Today we will have an early breakfast. Do our activities in Twyfelfontein, which is a rocky site situated in the Kunene Region of north-western Namibia. The site is one of the largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa and was
    proclaimed a National Monument in 1952. Experience cultural and ethnic meetings with the Damara tribe at the Living Museum surrounded by fascinating nature, rock formations, and the magnificent landscape of Damaraland. After our morning activities, we will have a picnic lunch along the way and continue our journey further to the capital.

    Day 14Windhoek-Johannesburg Greater Kruger Park

    Catch a morning flight to Johannesburg, and connect a flight to Nelspruit to the Greater Kruger National Park where our Safari adventure begins. After travelling through the Highveld farmlands, we descend the Drakensberg Escarpment and into the Lowveld, home to some of the most pristine Private Game Reserves in South Africa and the world renowned Kruger National Park. We arrive at Thornhill Safari Lodge in time for a delicious lunch. After some relaxation time, we venture out on a late afternoon/evening Big Five game drive in open 4×4 Safari vehicles in one of the neighboring Private Reserves. We take a break for Sundowner drinks and snacks at one of the waterholes en route enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of the African Bushveld before continuing our game drive into the night.

    Day 15Full Day Kruger National Park

    Kruger Park is South Africa’s most exciting safari destination. Steeped in legend and history, the iconic Kruger National Park is waiting for you to explore its vast landscapes and spectacular African wildlife. Here with our guide, you will spend a day discovering unique nature in one of the most incredible conservation parks in the world.

    Day 16Morning/ Evening Game Drives

    Start your day on a morning safari drive. You can encounter Africa’s Big Five, namely, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant, and abundant other wildlife and birds as we explore the game-rich Kruger National Park. Tea & coffee will be served during the morning drive. After the morning safari drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast. For the more energetic, each day after breakfast, there is the option of a morning bush walk. The walk is an opportunity to experience the bushveld at close quarters. Qualified rangers lead all walking safaris. Walking amongst wildlife allows you to immerse yourself in African smells and sounds full. Relax by the pool or in the main lodge area before lunch and your afternoon/sunset safari drive for those not so energetic. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

    Day 17Panorama Route tour

    Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before departing on the Panorama Route tour. We enjoy the day exploring the sights and sounds along the Drakensberg Escarpment’s Panoramic Route including the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Gods Window, and a few quaint little villages along the way. We then return to Thornhill late in the afternoon and arrive just in time to freshen up before enjoying some delicious bushveld cooking.

    Day 18 &19Kruger- Victoria falls- Zambezi River Cruise

    Today you will check out from the lodge and head to the airport to catch your flight to Victoria Falls. The drive to Nelspruit is around 1.5 hours from the club. Upon arrival, you will meet our staff at the airport, who will transfer you to the accommodation. Evening relaxes and takes in the incredible beauty of the Zambezi on this sunset tour. Learn about the river, spot some wildlife, and enjoy a drink and light snacks—the perfect ending for a day of adventure in Victoria Falls. Dinner and overnight at Victoria Falls at Shearwater Explorers village. After breakfast, you will be picked up from your accommodation in the following days. Today, on this practical guided tour, you will discover the extraordinary Victoria Falls, one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders. Learn about its geology, wildlife, and history, listen to its legends, take amazing pictures, etc. You will explore both Zimbabwe and Zambia sides; lunch will be served at Victoria falls, while dinner will be at the hotel.

    Day 20Victoria Falls Experience – Chobe National Park

    Today you’ll spend a full day immersed in nature with a cruise on the Chobe River followed by a game drive in the world-famous Chobe National Park. Only 1 hour away from Victoria falls, the Chobe National Park in Botswana is home to one of the largest game concentrations in Africa. You’ll be picked up from your lodge or hotel for a transfer to the border. Your Botswanan guide will meet you after immigration procedures and take you first to the cruise on the Chobe River. This breathtaking river is famous for its rich elephant and lion population, so keep your eyes peeled to spot the wildlife in the water and along the banks.
    Enjoy a fresh buffet lunch with several options at a beautiful lodge situated on the riverbank. Then, switch to a game drive in the National Park. Your open-sided vehicle will allow you to see 360-degrees around you and at great distances over the safari, which is populated with elephants, Cape buffalo, lions, antelopes, and more. Refreshments will be served throughout the tour to keep you cool. After a full day of experiencing the beauty of African nature, you’ll be dropped off back at your accommodation in Victoria Falls.
