Lokobe is home to a large colony of lemur macaques and other lemur species. Claire’s day microcebo and the nocturnal Mirza Zaza and Nosy Be’s lepilemide. Among the six species of chameleons, there is the smallest chameleon in the world, the Brochesia Minima, which is only a few millimeters long. Among the geckos is the Uroplatus or leaf-tailed gecko, an animal that exploits mimicry. Among the amphibians housed in reserve lives one of the most miniature frogs globally, Rhombophryne pygmaea, and endemic to Lokobe.

Departure from the port at 10:30, a private car will take you to the fishing village of Ampasipohy in 30 minutes ride in direction to the South East of Nosy-Be. Once there, you continue the tour in a pirogue for a 45-minute crossing during which lush landscapes composed of mangrove forests of traveler’s tree (Ravinala) and wild forest open to your eyes while enjoying the pleasure of ballad with the assistance of the guide and the rower. Upon arrival at the village of Ampasipohy the entrance to the park, 10 minutes break will be given to allow you to prepare quietly for the journey, Inside the forest, fauna, and flora rich in species opens to your eyes which our specialist guides will be happy to make you appreciate such as the virtues of medicinal plants for the flora and the endemicity of our fauna through the meeting with lemurs macaco, snakes boa, chameleons. Lunch before noon, a delicious meal of seafood will be served in the village.
After lunch, the visit continues, 3 km from Andoany, at the end of the road track which appears to the left the main distillery processes several tonnes of flowers per day; it aims to extract an essential oil by steam distillation for the preparation of cosmetics and perfumes (approximately 100 kg of flowers are necessary to produce approximately 2.5 kg of oil), but also from a lower quality oil, called Cananga essence, extracted from the tail of the distillate. A tip: the best ylang-ylang essential oil comes from flowers picked early in the morning, in the first days of summer! It goes perfectly with lemon or bergamot essential oil. Its therapeutic virtues make it its glory! It would slow the heart rate, and fight against tachycardia and hypertension; just like essential oils of rose, jasmine or sandalwood, it would have anti-depressive, aphrodisiac, and sedative properties. On-site, in the
distillery, you can observe the extraction of essences and buy small bottles of ylang-ylang essence and various souvenirs. After the visit, return to the port around 05:15 PM.
