Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Algiers – City of Contrasts

Arrive in Algiers, meet your guide, and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, visit the Martyrs’ Memorial and enjoy a walk along the colonial-era French Quarter. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Algerian dinner of couscous or rechta (noodle dish).

Day 2UNESCO Casbah & Ottoman Heritage

Spend the day exploring the historic Casbah of Algiers (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Visit Ottoman palaces, mosques like Ketchaoua Mosque, and climb narrow alleys for panoramic views. Visit the Bardo Museum and the Great Mosque of Algiers. Enjoy mint tea in a local café and shop for silver jewelry or ceramics.

Day 3Roman Ruins of Tipasa & Cleopatra’s Tomb

Drive west to the coastal Roman city of Tipasa (1.5 hrs). Explore the theater, basilicas, necropolis, and seaside baths. After lunch, stop at the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, burial place of Cleopatra Selene. Return to Algiers in the evening.

Day 4Algiers – Djemila – Setif

We will embark on a scenic road trip from Algiers to Setif, covering approximately 350 km via the highway. The journey offers breathtaking landscapes and beautiful vistas along the way.

The day includes a visit to the ancient Roman ruins of Djemila, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved architecture and historical significance. Next, they will explore Timgad, another remarkable Roman city, before

Day 5Setif - Timgad –Constantine

Day excursion to the Roman city of Timgad (UNESCO), known as the “Pompeii of Africa.” Walk its straight Roman streets, visit the Triumphal Arch, theater, library, and baths. Return to Constantine by evening.

Day 6Constantine to Ghardaïa – Gateway to the Sahara

Morning flight or drive south to Ghardaïa, part of the M’zab Valley (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Begin your visit with a walking tour of Mélika or Beni Isguen, two of the five Mozabite cities, known for their unique architecture, market traditions, and Ibadite customs.

Day 7Culture of the M’zab – A Living Civilization

Spend the day exploring the other M’zab towns, visiting the covered souks, palm groves, and mudbrick mosques with white domes. Learn about Mozabite law, family structure, and urban design. Optional tea with a local family in the evening.

Day 8Departure or Optional Extension to Sahara (Timimoun)
