Welcome to Cameroon! Upon arrival at Yaoundé International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure before an overnight stay in Yaoundé.
After an early breakfast, depart for Somalomo, the gateway to the renowned Dja Biosphere Reserve. Upon arrival, stop at Maman Rose’s home to prepare your luggage before crossing the Dja River and hiking to the Baka Pygmy Camp. Settle into your tents and enjoy a warm welcome from the community, followed by dinner and an evening of traditional Baka music and dance. Overnight in tents.
Spend a full day discovering the fascinating traditions and lifestyle of the Baka people. Participate in authentic activities such as traditional hunting techniques, gathering medicinal plants, honey harvesting, fishing, and learning how forest shelters are constructed. In the evening, enjoy storytelling, cultural performances, and traditional dances around the campfire. Dinner and overnight in tents.
After breakfast, bid farewell to your Baka hosts during a traditional farewell ceremony. Cross back over the Dja River and continue by road through Bertoua to Batouri. Upon arrival, check into the Catholic Mission Guesthouse, enjoy dinner, and relax overnight.
Depart very early this morning for the long journey toward Mambele, travelling through the rainforest landscapes of eastern Cameroon. Stop for lunch in Yokadouma before continuing to Mambele. Upon arrival, check into the WWF Guesthouse. Dinner and overnight stay.
Travel into the spectacular Lobéké National Park, one of Central Africa’s premier wildlife conservation areas. After the drive, enjoy a guided hike of approximately 6 km to your forest campsite. Settle into your tents before spending the evening observing wildlife from an elevated viewing platform overlooking a forest clearing. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Enjoy a full day exploring the rich biodiversity of Lobéké National Park. Guided wildlife excursions offer opportunities to observe western lowland gorillas, forest elephants, buffalo, bongos, sitatungas, giant forest hogs, bushpigs, and one of the region’s largest colonies of African grey parrots. Return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Enjoy one final morning of wildlife viewing before returning to the vehicles in the afternoon. Drive back to Mambele and check into the WWF Guesthouse. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Batouri via Yokadouma. Arrive in the evening and check into the Catholic Mission Guesthouse. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, begin the return journey to Yaoundé via Bertoua. Upon arrival, transfer to Yaoundé International Airport for your onward flight. Alternatively, if your departure is scheduled for the following day, check into your hotel for an additional overnight stay before your airport transfer according to your travel arrangements.
