Lope National Park Express 6 Days/5 Nights

Upon your arrival at the International Airport in Libreville, you will be warmly welcomed by our dedicated tour staff. After you have cleared customs and collected your luggage, our guide will assist you with the remaining arrival processes, including currency exchange to ensure you have the local currency on hand for your trip. Following these formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in and unwind after your journey. Enjoy the evening at your leisure, taking in the ambiance of your new surroundings. This first day is designed to help you acclimate to the local culture and prepare for the adventures that lie ahead.

You will embark on an exciting journey to Ewendo. After breakfast, you will head to the train station to purchase tickets for the Transgabonaise railway. Boarding is scheduled for 9:00 AM, and you will depart from Owendo Station, embarking on a scenic ride through the lush landscapes of Gabon. The train journey offers a unique perspective of the region, allowing you to relax and enjoy the views. You will arrive at Lopé around 8:30 PM, where our guide will be waiting to transfer you to the Lope Hotel. Here, you will enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay, preparing you for the adventures that await in the national park.

For the next 2 days A safari with a difference, you will track large populations of mandrills, chimpanzees and gorillas with an experienced guide and blaze a series of forest gallery trails on foot. During your visit you may learn about the Bwiti initiation ceremony; rites of passage for Gabonese men while further afield, you’ll visit Lopé’s UNESCO World Heritage listed rock carvings and prehistoric sites. On a night safari by 4×4 wheel drive, you might spot mangabeys, collabeys and other wildlife. For the best wildlife encounters, the rainy seasons from February – May and October – November-will give you the numbers. If you’re visiting during the dry season from July – August, you will see an extraordinary gathering of mandrills. Serving as the world’s most important refuge for this baboon-like primate, Lopé’s mandrills are largely found in the northern end of the park, where they congregate in mass of up to 800 individuals over two short weeks every year in July — the largest gathering ever recorded exceeded 1350 in numbers. A visit to The Station d’Etudes des gorilles et chimpanzésoffers another extraordinary insight into important primate research programs. Here you will be given a presentation and overview of their habits and behaviours of gorillas and chimpanzees.

You will rise early for breakfast at 7:00 AM before embarking on walking tour designed for those in good physical condition. Your journey will take you to Mount Brazza, where you will enjoy a scenic hike and a picnic lunch amidst nature. If you are not into walking safrai you will dive in to 4×4 for a game drive around the park. The breathtaking views from the summit will be a highlight of your day. In the afternoon, you will transition to a 4×4 vehicle for a safari in the savannah, where you will visit ancient rock engravings and take in the stunning sights along the Ougoué River. After a day filled with adventure, you will return to the hotel to freshen up before transferring to Lopé station for your overnight train journey back to Ewendo, where you will enjoy a light snack on board.

As your journey comes to a close on, you will arrive at Owendo Station at 7:10 AM.  This final day allows you to soak in the essence of the city before your departure. In the evening, you will be dropped off at the airport for your ownward journey or hotel  concluding your unforgettable adventure in Gabon.
