After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a captivating city tour of Malabo. Prepare to be amazed as we visit the stunning gothic-styled cathedral, a masterpiece designed by Luis Saegarra Llairado. Next, we’ll explore the presidential palace, surrounded by impressive military installations and personnel. Take in the vibrant atmosphere of the central market, where you’ll witness the colors and energy of a typical African market. Our tour also includes the City Hall and the architectural wonders of numerous Spanish buildings. After exploring both the old and new parts of Malabo, we return to the Hotel for a delightful lunch. In the afternoon, we set off on an excursion to the charming village of Ureca, located just south of Malabo. Highlights of this excursion include a visit to the small town, the mesmerizing Eola waterfalls, and a relaxing beach walk along the picturesque Moraka beach. Keep an eye out for the incredible sight of marine turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night. As the evening approaches, we drive back to Malabo for a restful night’s sleep.
After a satisfying breakfast, we bid farewell to Malabo and head to the airport for a morning flight to Bata, the mainland part of Equatorial Guinea. A short 20-minute flight brings us to Bata airport, where our local guide will be waiting to transfer you to the Hotel for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we embark on a sightseeing tour of Bata, visiting notable landmarks such as the clock square, the cathedral, the vibrant and colorful market, the mosque, and the central avenues. If time permits, we may also take a stroll along the seafront in Bomé, enjoying the refreshing beach atmosphere. After a day of exploration, we return to the
comfortable Ibis Hotel for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After a hearty breakfast, we depart from Bata to Mongomo, a journey that takes approximately three hours. As we travel, immerse yourself in the picturesque habitats and villages that line the road, offering glimpses of the lush rainforest. Upon arrival in Mongomo, we transfer to the Akoakam hotel for a satisfying lunch before embarking on an afternoon sightseeing tour. Mongomo holds significant cultural importance as the hometown of Equatorial Guinea’s first president and is inhabited by the Fang ethnic tribe. Explore the town’s highlights, including the beautiful stadium that hosted the 2015 African Cup Of Nations, the newly built cathedral resembling St. Paul’s Cathedral in the Vatican, and the national history center featuring the busts of the country’s past leaders. In the afternoon, we leave Mongomo and drive back through the enchanting rainforest, returning to Oyala for an overnight stay at the Djibloho Hotel.
In the morning, we embark on a fascinating visit to Oyala, a futuristic city set amidst the jungle that is destined to become the capital of Equatorial Guinea. Marvel at the vast construction work that is transforming this city into a hub of government offices, hotels, supermarkets, and more. Witness the grandeur of the gigantic buildings that will shape the future of the nation. After exploring Oyala, we depart for Bata, arriving in the early afternoon with a quick stop at Anisok for a brief visit. From Bata, we catch a domestic flight to Malabo airport, where you’ll check-in for your connecting flight back home.
