Itinerary

Day 1Journey to the Highlands

Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Roberts International Airport. From here, a scenic drive takes you deep into Liberia’s northeastern region, where the lush forests and rolling hills give way to the rugged terrain of Yekepa, a former mining town nestled at the foot of Mount Nimba. Along the way, enjoy local roadside snacks and take in Liberia’s untouched rural landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at a charming eco-lodge and gather for a welcome dinner with your guide, who will brief you on the adventure ahead.

Day 2Trekking Mount Nimba

After breakfast, embark on an unforgettable trek up the slopes of Mount Nimba. Guided by local rangers, you’ll pass through dense forest, grassy savannas, and rocky outcrops, spotting rare birds, butterflies, and possibly even pygmy hippos along the trail. Break for a picnic lunch at a scenic overlook, soaking in the panoramic views of Liberia, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire. Return to base by late afternoon and unwind around a bonfire, where elders may join to share folktales and traditional songs under the stars.

Day 3Villages & Culture

This day focuses on cultural immersion as you visit nearby Mano and Gio communities. Participate in traditional weaving and pottery demonstrations, and share a hearty local lunch with a host family. Learn about the roles of storytelling, farming, and ancestral practices in daily life. Later, visit the old Yekepa mining ruins to understand the region’s economic history. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4Back to Monrovia

After a leisurely breakfast, begin your drive back to Monrovia. Enjoy several scenic stops for photos and snacks along the way. Arrive in the capital by late afternoon and transfer to your hotel or continue to your next destination.
