Upon arrival at the airport, you will meet up with Across Africa Tours driver and transferred to Discovery guest house. The airport is 45 km outside Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. Later you will join our guide for free township tour. Dinner will be at own expense at the restaurant of your choice.
Today you will rise early to depart your accommodation en route to the Kalahari desert to reach the town of Ghazni where the San Bushmen live. Take a guided bushwalk in this seemingly barren landscape and learn about the local way of life where ancient people have survived for centuries. Enjoy a genuine cultural experience and learn how the bushmen live off the land by using the natural resources in their environment and balancing an existence in the fragile ecosystem in which they live. By supporting the San Bushmen’s eco-tourism initiative, you are also helping keep their culture alive. Have a traditional meal and watch an ancient ritual dance tonight around the bonfire in which the San Bushmen sing and dance for healing, trance or spiritual purpose
Our exploration continues with a visit to the Giants Playgrounds, named for the way in which the massive dolerite boulders have been placed on each other – creating rock formations and a series of mazes. We board the truck and travel south on the gravel byways of Southern Namibia on route to Ais-Ais. Famed for its hot springs, the resort and its hot pools are the perfect tonics to ease away the dust of the Namib. The Fish River Canyon is one of the largest in the world and this afternoon we take a walk along the rim of the canyon and end our day with a memorable sunset on the canyon edge. Early morning departure for the short drive to Luderitz. We travel on the main road and keep a sharp look out for the unique Namib wild horses. Visit Kolmanskop, a ghost town where bigger and better diamonds where found along the coast. Today, say goodbye to luderitz and head south to the Namib Desert. Make a brief stop in Walvis Bay before arriving in Namib Naukluft, where you’ll take a guided desert tour. Go to sleep early tonight to prepare you for your early wake time in the morning. Overnight in Sossuvlei Lodge or similar
A pre-dawn start is essential this morning as we want to catch the soft light of the sunrise on the desert. Climb the famous Dune 45 and then take a 4×4 vehicle to visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Finally, say farewell to the dunes and head to Sesriem Canyon before heading back to your accommodation for the night. Overnight in Sossuvlei Lodge or similar
Today we will move from desert to sea. We will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse the Gaub on our way. The Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry river bed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side and watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before us. Having arrived at the coast, we will make a stop in Walvis Bay to enjoy the view of flamingos and other birds in the lagoons. We will take a short break for lunch (at your own expense). We overnight in Swakopmund.

A free day today offers you that offers you ample time to explore the town. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic is quite cold here sometimes) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged. These include a boat-tour (with oysters and champagne) scenic flights and micro-light flights over the desert, fishing trips (either from the beach or in a boat), quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sandboarding, skydiving and many other activities. All extra activities in Swakopmund are subject to availability. Dinner and lunch tonight is not included in the price of the safari and will be at the client’s own expense.

In the morning, we depart from the coastal town of Swakopmund and continue our safari along the skeleton coast. Along the way, we will visit the shipwreck and proceed to the Cape Cross Seal colony. After visiting the seals, we will turn east into the desert, towards Brandberg Damaraland, one of the most magnificent and majestic places in Namibia. In this area, you can find elephants, giraffes, ostriches and a variety of antelopes!

After exploring the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, continue your journey through the spectacular landscapes of Damaraland towards Grootberg Lodge. Twyfelfontein, located in Namibia’s remote Kunene Region, is home to over 2,000 ancient Bushman (San) rock engravings, making it one of Africa’s most significant collections of prehistoric rock art. Recognized by UNESCO in 2007 and declared a National Monument in 1952, the site offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Namibia’s earliest inhabitants.
Before departing, enjoy an authentic cultural experience at the Damara Living Museum, where you will meet members of the Damara tribe and learn about their traditional customs, survival skills, music, dancing, and way of life. From Twyfelfontein, travel east through one of Namibia’s most scenic wilderness regions, passing striking mountains, ancient valleys, and wide-open plains before ascending the spectacular Grootberg Pass. This scenic mountain road rewards travelers with panoramic views over the rugged Klip River Valley and the vast wilderness of northwestern Namibia.
Arrive at Grootberg, one of Namibia’s most spectacular eco-tourism destinations, where dramatic escarpments, abundant wildlife, and unforgettable sunsets await. The area is renowned for its conservation initiatives and offers excellent opportunities to spot desert-adapted wildlife while enjoying the tranquility and natural beauty of the Damaraland region.

Depart the spectacular Grootberg region and journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Damaraland towards Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. Along the way, travel through the rugged wilderness of northwestern Namibia, where dramatic mountains, vast plains, and ancient geological formations create unforgettable scenery.
En route, visit the iconic Brandberg Mountain (Burning Mountain), the highest mountain in Namibia and one of the country’s most important archaeological and cultural landmarks. Brandberg is home to more than 45,000 ancient San (Bushman) rock paintings, including the world-famous White Lady Rock Painting, believed to be over 2,000 years old.

Continue your journey to Windhoek, where you’ll arrive in the afternoon. Depending on your onward travel plans, you may be transferred to your accommodation or to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your departure flight.
