This short safari-style journey combines wildlife conservation, rainforest scenery, and cultural encounters in Cameroon’s South Region. You’ll experience Yaoundé’s highlights, visit a primate sanctuary near Mfou, overnight in the peaceful lakeside village of Nkolandom, and (optionally) enjoy a traditional canoe excursion on the Nyong River at Ebogo.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
This short safari-style journey combines wildlife conservation, rainforest scenery, and cultural encounters in Cameroon’s South Region. You’ll experience Yaoundé’s highlights, visit a primate sanctuary near Mfou, overnight in the peaceful lakeside village of Nkolandom, and (optionally) enjoy a traditional canoe excursion on the Nyong River at Ebogo.
On arrival at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport, your guide meets you and transfers you to the hotel in Yaoundé (about 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). After check-in, you have time to rest. In the evening, you enjoy dinner followed by a short briefing to review the next day’s departure time, road conditions, and what to expect.

Driving: Airport → Yaoundé (approx. 30 km)
Overnight: Yaoundé hotel
After breakfast, depart southwards. You stop at Ekali roadside craft market, known for handmade raphia/bamboo furniture and wooden tools. The next highlight is the Mfou Primate Sanctuary, where you take a guided forest visit to observe rescued and protected primates. Commonly encountered species can include chimpanzees, mandrills, drills, mangabeys, and other primates (sightings vary by season and animal activity).
After the sanctuary, continue toward the South Region, driving through forest landscapes and villages to reach Nkolandom, a calm lakeside setting near Ebolowa. After check-in at the lodge, you can relax by the lake and enjoy the peaceful environment. If time allows, you can explore nearby attractions such as small cultural displays/museum visits, short walks, or views of local fish ponds.

Overnight: Nkolandom lodge
After breakfast, begin your return to Yaoundé through beautiful forest zones and rural communities. Along the way, you may include an optional detour to Ebogo, a riverside community on the Nyong River.
At Ebogo, guests can enjoy a traditional pirogue (canoe) ride, a short guided forest walk, and a stop at a legendary giant tree linked to local stories and heritage. After the excursion, continue back to Yaoundé and check in to your hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour of Yaoundé featuring major cultural and historical sites. Typical highlights include the Central Market (Marché Central) for a lively local experience, the National Museum for Cameroon’s heritage collections (when open/available), and the Monument of Reunification, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. You can also visit selected handicraft centers for souvenirs and locally made art.
After the tour, return to the hotel to freshen up and transfer to the airport for departure.
