Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, is a beautiful coastal destination in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. It combines golden beaches, maritime experiences, history, culture and easy access to wildlife. The city is also an excellent gateway to Addo Elephant National Park, located roughly 70–72 km away.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, is a beautiful coastal destination in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. It combines golden beaches, maritime experiences, history, culture and easy access to wildlife. The city is also an excellent gateway to Addo Elephant National Park, located roughly 70–72 km away.
Arrive at Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (Gqeberha Airport) and meet your driver-guide for a private transfer to your hotel.
After check-in and some time to relax, enjoy a gentle orientation tour of the city. Depending on your arrival time, visit the beachfront and take a leisurely walk along the coast.

After breakfast, begin your city and heritage tour.
Visit Route 67, a collection of public artworks and heritage sites celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of public service. The route links the city centre with landmarks including the Donkin Reserve.
Continue to the Campanile, Vuyisile Mini Square and Donkin Reserve before exploring other historic parts of the city.
Later, visit Bayworld, which features museum collections, marine exhibits and a reptile park.
End the day with time at the beachfront, with options including King’s Beach and Humewood Beach. King’s Beach stretches for approximately 1.6 km, while Humewood Beach is a popular family-friendly beach.

After an early breakfast, depart for Addo Elephant National Park, one of South Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. The park is approximately 70–72 km from Gqeberha, making it ideal for a full-day safari.
Enjoy a morning game drive searching for elephants, buffalo, lions, rhinos, antelope and numerous bird species. Addo is particularly renowned for its large elephant population and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Stop for lunch before continuing with an afternoon game drive.
In the late afternoon, depart the park and return to Gqeberha.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed day exploring the coastal side of Gqeberha.
Visit the beachfront area and enjoy time at one of the city’s beaches. You may also choose optional activities such as a boat cruise, kayaking, surfing or other marine experiences, subject to availability and weather conditions.
In the afternoon, explore local shops, cafés and restaurants before enjoying a sunset along Algoa Bay.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend your final morning at leisure.
Depending on your departure time, you may have an opportunity for last-minute shopping, a short beachfront walk or a visit to a local attraction.
