This tour gives you the opportunity to explore Lesotho. You will first visit World Heritage/ Drankensberg Park which is home to a variety of game and participate in bird watching, fishing and hiking. Afterwards, you will visit the mountain fortress of Thaba Bisou, Bokong Nature Reserve, Katse Dam and Maletsunyane falls.

Upon pick up at the port at 9:30am you’ll board a private vehicle and embark on a scenic ride for around five hour to World Heritage Maloti/Drakensberg Park the largest wilderness conservation area in Kwazulu-Natal and is home to a wide variety of game, including a number of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibia which are highly endangered and/or threatened. You wills spend the LAKESIDE COTTAGE. While at the park you will patriciate in bird watching, fishing and hikes. For short walks there are trails on and around the farm. For those looking for something more challenging, the surrounding wilderness is cris – crossed by trails and game paths. The renowned Giants Cup Hiking trail runs close to the farm, there is a clear track running from the farm to the trail. There are numerous bushman paintings and caves within walking distance from the farm. You can look forward to seeing a fair amount of wildlife and birds, especially raptors on these hikes. Snakes to watch out for are the Rinkhals, Puffadder and Berg adder. The common green snake you might see is nonvenomous.

Today you will cross the sani border and drive to Lesotho. Arrive in the Capital Maseru before lunchtime where you will be met by your guide. You will go for a short tour of the capital and your guide will explain important facts about the Kingdom of Lesotho. You will also be treated to a light lunch.He will then take you to the mountain retreat of Thaba Bosiu. Thaba Bosiu is of immense historic significance to the Basotho people and is tied into the history of the founding of their nation. There is a museum with an interpretive centre. The very comfortably appointed chalets in which you will be accommodated in are situated in circular arrangements beneath the mountain. If you are fortunate there will be a performance of traditional dance before your dinner which is in the well-appointed restaurant.It will become apparent after you have been here for a few hours how crystal clear and pure the mountain air is and the feeling of peace and quiet that pervades the area. You can take a nice constitutional walk before your dinner.

After breakfast our first stop today is at one of the many sites in Lesotho where you can see traces of the ancient giants that ruled the earth millions of years ago. The footprints of dinosaurs look like a giant bird has trod the landscape.From here we journey into the mountains to the beautiful Bokong Nature Reserve and we will alight for a short walk and to have our picnic lunch.From here we shall continue our journey first along the edge of and then across the Katse Dam. The Katse dam is part of the Lesotho Highland Water Project. Water is one of Lesotho’s major exports to the thirsty cities of South Africa. We shall then continue our circular journey through the small towns and villages of Lesotho back to Thaba Bosiu.

After breakfasting this morning, we shall travel through the beautiful mountain landscapes to Lesotho’s highest waterfall the Maletsunyane Falls. We shall take some short walks around the falls and have a picnic lunch. Drive back to the Maseru to catch a flight back to cape town at 12.40. After an hour 45 mins flight you will arrive to Cape town where you will meet the driver who will drop you off at the port.
