Expect long but scenic drives, flexible routing depending on sand/tides, and wild camping under big skies.
Arrive in Namibe where you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. After check-in, you’ll
have time to settle in and review the route briefing with your guide/driver, including safety, supplies,
and timing for the remote days ahead. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short scenic outing
around Namibe’s coastline or nearby desert viewpoints for a relaxed introduction to the region before
returning to the lodge for dinner and an early night.

After an early breakfast, depart south toward Tômbua, the last major coastal town before the remote
stretch. Here you’ll stop to refuel and finalize any last supplies. Continue by 4×4 along rugged coastal
and desert tracks toward the extraordinary Baía dos Tigres, a dramatic meeting point of dunes, ocean,
and abandoned settlements. Arrive in time to explore the shoreline and capture the late-afternoon light
over the dunes and Atlantic coast. Set up camp and enjoy a bush-style dinner under the stars.

Wake up to a spectacular desert sunrise and enjoy breakfast in camp. Today is dedicated to exploring
Baía dos Tigres at a comfortable pace, allowing time for photography, coastal drives, and walks along
the dunes and shoreline (conditions permitting). You’ll also visit the remnants of the old settlement, a
haunting and unforgettable highlight of the area. After a full day in the wild, return to camp for
sundowners and a hearty dinner around the fire, listening to the ocean and desert night sounds.

After breakfast, break camp and begin your journey north-east through remote desert scenery and the
wider Iona region, known for vast open horizons, shifting sands, and striking solitude. The day is a true
expedition drive with photo stops along the way. By late afternoon, arrive near the Cunene River
corridor, where the landscape changes dramatically from desert tones to riverine vegetation. Set up
camp near the river area (where suitable) and enjoy dinner in a peaceful wilderness setting.

Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the Cunene River Mouth, where the river meets the Atlantic
Ocean—an impressive and remote natural landmark with excellent scenery and birdlife. Spend time
exploring the river-mouth area and taking in the dramatic contrast of water, sand, and sea. After a picnic
lunch, begin the return journey to Namibe, arriving by late afternoon/early evening for drop-off and end
of services.
