Arrive in Addis Ababa, we will meet and pick you from your designated location (airport or any hotel in Addis Ababa). Thn start city tour of Addis Ababa from the national museum of Ethiopia where you meet LUCY the 3.2 million years old humanoid, believed to be mother of all modern human kind. In the museum, you will also visit and learn cultural, historical, political and socio-economic aspects of Ethiopia. We continue to Merkato, the largest open air market in Africa where thousands of people exchange goods and services in traditional way. Afterwards we visit St George cathedral a famous religious heritage in the city. After lunch break, we will drive to mount entoto (3200 meters above sea level), this is a highest point of Addis Ababa where you will enjoy the panoramic view of the entire city and where you can also go for a moderate walk or bike. Finally drive back to hotel. Overnight at Blue Birds hotel or similar hotel in Addis.
In The Morning Take 1 Hour Flight To Gondar, Arriving In Gondar First Check Into Hotel And Then Take City Tour Of This Old City. Gondar Was The 17th Century Ethiopian Capital. In Gondar We Visit The 17th Century Royal Enclosures Including Fasiledes Castle And Bath And Debrebrhan Sillassie Church. Overnight At Ag Hotel Or Similar Hotel In Gondar.
In the morning we drive to Simien mountain national park located on 120km from Gondar. Today we will explore some of the most striking features of the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and home to one of the largest mountain ranges in Africa. Simien mountain is also home to several plant and animal species totally endemic to Ethiopia. We spend the day enjoying moderate hike along the high rising mountainsides and escarpment that offer gorgeous view of the entire area. We will also visit some of the parks endemic plant and animal species including the entertaining Gelada baboon. After the visit, we finally drive back to Gondar. Overnight at AG hotel or similar hotel in Gondar.
Arriving in Bahir Dar first we check into hotel. After a short break, we take a boat trip on Lake Tana. Lake Tana is the largest lake in Ethiopia and source of the Blue Nile. It holds 50% of the country’s fresh water. The lake has 37 islands, each islands with its own ancient monasteries dated from 14th century. We will visit two most beautiful and reputable monasteries namely, Ura Kidanemehret and Azowa Maryam. Overnight at Delano hotel or similar hotel in Bahir Dar.
In the morning we drive 37km out of Bahir Dar to Tis Abay village to visit the Blue Nile Falls. Here, we will experience a moderate hike around Blue Nile gorge enjoying the mighty Blue Nile Falls. After the visit we drive back to Bahir Dar city for lunch break. After lunch, we will continue driving to Lalibela. The drive from Bahir Dar to Lalibela is very scenic and we will have the opportunity to explore amazing views of Ethiopian highlands. Overnight at Lal hotel or similar hotel in Lalibela.
Today we spend the day visiting the 11 rock-hewn churches of Lalibela dated back to 12th century. The churches were not constructed in a traditional way but rather were hewn from the living rock of monolithic blocks. These blocks were further chiselled out, forming doors, windows, columns, various floors, roofs etc. This gigantic work was further completed with an extensive system of drainage ditches, trenches and ceremonial passages, some with openings to hermit caves and catacombs. Overnight at Lal hotel or similar hotel in Lalibela.
In the morning we will visit an ancient monastery called Asheton Maryam. The Monastery was founded in the 13th century. It is ruggedly carved out of a cleft and built on a ridge with 360 degree view giving an excellent outlook over the surrounding countryside very far below. After visiting the monastery, we will drive to Lalibela airport for the flight back to Addis Ababa.
In the evening we will have folkloric farewell dinner at cultural restaurant watching dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia live from stage. Then transfer to airport according to your flight schedule.
