Blue River Park is regarded as the most spectacular of New Caledonia’s nature reserves. Covering 9,000 hectares, the park is home to a big population of the flightless bird, the Cagou which is the national symbol, a drowned forest, the giant Kaori trees, and the beautiful Blue River.

Spend your day exploring a vast preserve that hosts a wide collection of biodiversity. The Park features more than 22,000 areas of protected space for wildlife to call home. You’ll get to take a stroll along the river forests since the park limits car access, enjoy a picnic and absorb the Cagou bird and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Your private tour also accommodates a small group, making it perfect for exploring New Caledonia with family or a group of friends.
Since 1980, the Blue River National Park’s doors have been open to tourists and locals alike but serve as a conservation haven for some of New Caledonia’s native creatures, plant life, and exotic animals. The Park only allows green activities to align with its conservation goals, but you can easily take part in these activities from taking a forest stroll to taking a rest at the picnic area, with places like the Germain Bridge and the Yate Dam on the 22,000-plus-sized property of Blue River Park, this eco-tour offers a wide selection of places to visit.
As part of your tour, you’ll also get to experience the diverse environments of Blue River Park, including its forests of Araucaria and Grand Kaori as well as its Flooded Forests. You may even encounter the emblematic native Cagou Bird as you pass the park’s central swimming location. Before you wrap up your tour, take time to catch a glimpse of the remnants of the park’s past mining operations, including the railway and Pont Perignon.
