Continue north to Samburu, one of Kenya’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. Explore the reserve on exciting game drives along the Ewaso Ng’iro River and across its dry savannah landscapes. Samburu is particularly famous for its Samburu Special Five—Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich—alongside elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs and other wildlife.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
This Samburu & Aberdare Safari is ideal for travellers seeking a short but rewarding Kenya wildlife experience, combining exceptional game viewing, beautiful scenery and an opportunity to discover the distinctive culture of northern Kenya.
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive north through the scenic central highlands, passing tea and coffee plantations and enjoying views of the countryside. Continue toward the Aberdare region, arriving in time for lunch.
After lunch, transfer to your tree lodge inside or near the Aberdare forest. Spend the afternoon and evening observing wildlife from the lodge’s viewing areas. The forest habitat offers opportunities to see elephants, buffaloes, waterbuck, bushbuck, warthogs and other forest species. Night game viewing around the lodge may also provide sightings of nocturnal wildlife.

Meals: Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast, depart Aberdare and continue north toward Samburu National Reserve. The scenery changes dramatically as you travel from the cool, green central highlands into the semi-arid landscapes of northern Kenya.
Arrive in Samburu around lunchtime and check in at your lodge or camp. After lunch and some relaxation, head out for your first afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Ng’iro River.
Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and numerous bird species. Samburu is particularly famous for its Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Somali ostrich.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on a full-day safari in Samburu National Reserve.
Explore the reserve’s rugged hills, open plains, acacia woodland and riverine forests. The Ewaso Ng’iro River is an important wildlife area and provides excellent opportunities to observe elephants and other animals gathering around the water.
Continue your search for Samburu’s distinctive wildlife, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich, while also watching for lions, leopards, cheetahs and other predators.
Enjoy a picnic lunch or return to the lodge for lunch before continuing with an afternoon game drive. You may also include a visit to a Samburu village to learn about traditional culture, beadwork, music and the community’s close relationship with wildlife and conservation.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Wake up early for a final morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife is often active. This is your final opportunity to photograph elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators against Samburu’s dramatic northern landscapes.
Return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and beginning your drive back to Nairobi. Stop along the way for lunch and refreshments, with scenic views of central Kenya and Mount Kenya.
Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon, marking the end of your Samburu & Aberdare Safari.
