Embarking from Montagu, the starting point of Route 62, the longest wine route, we set out early in the morning. Journeying alongside majestic mountains, we ascend towards the Great Karoo. Along the way, we make a unique on-route stop at Ronnie’s Sex Shop, a bar in the midst of nowhere. Continuing our adventure, we encounter the charming ostriches in Oudtshoorn and explore the fascinating Cango Caves. Saying our farewells to the Karoo ostriches, we traverse one of South Africa’s most beautiful off-road mountain passes, Montagu Pass, offering breathtaking views of spectacular mountains and valleys. Time permitting, we may explore the Wilderness National Park before retiring for the night in the tranquil surroundings of Wilderness.

Today’s expedition leads us across provincial borders, tracing the scenic route along the Indian Ocean through Wilderness National Park, Knysna, Garden Route National Park, and Tsisikamma National Park, culminating in a visit to the renowned Ado Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape. At 15:00, we kick off our initial Big5 game drive, followed by a delightful bush campfire dinner and a night game drive. Your overnight stay awaits in the captivating surroundings of Schotia.

As the third-largest national park in South Africa, Addo Elephant Park invites adventurous outdoor and nature enthusiasts. Our coastal exploration persists as we explore the wonders of the Tsitsikamma National Park, taking a stroll on the iconic suspension bridge. Before bidding farewell to the inviting waters of the Indian Ocean and the lush greenery of Tsitsikamma, we make a memorable stop at the Storm River Bloukrans Bungee, situated on the world’s highest commercial bungee bridge. The Bloukrans Bridge stands at an impressive 216 meters (709 feet) above the Bloukrans River, earning its distinction as the highest commercial natural bungee jump in the world. This exhilarating experience adds the perfect touch to our Garden Route adventure.
As the day unfolds, we head to Plettenberg Bay for a night of relaxation and rejuvenation, surrounded by the coastal charm of this picturesque destination. Your overnight stay promises a tranquil and comfortable retreat in Plettenberg Bay.

Continuing our journey along the Garden Route, the Indian Ocean graces us with its scenic beauty along the cliffs and bays of Knysna. Shifting our course, we now head inland toward the Klein Karoo. If weather and time permit, we may venture through Montagu Pass, a historic route constructed in 1848 by 250 convicts. However, the true highlight awaits as we tackle the formidable and awe-inspiring Swartberg Pass, a 24-kilometer stretch of breathtaking scenery.
The route unfolds as a testament to both nature’s grandeur and historical significance. Our exploration leads us to the charming town of Prince Albert, where you will enjoy a night stay. Immerse yourself in the tranquility and unique atmosphere of this quaint destination in the heart of the Klein Karoo.

As we continue our exploration along the Garden Route towards Cape Town, a mandatory detour presents itself in Swellendam. From there, we make our way down to the coast to visit the most southern tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge in a breathtaking meeting of waters.

Our journey unfolds through expansive farmlands and alongside majestic mountains as we make our way to the coast. From July to November, the coastal town of Hermanus becomes the playground for southern right whales, where a dedicated Whale-Cryer enhances the experience. Traversing the scenic Botrivier Lagoon, we embark on the Whale Route, leading us to the authentic penguin colony of the Cape.
The day’s adventure takes us full circle as we retrace our steps, concluding the day trip back in the heart of the Winelands. Your overnight stay is arranged in the picturesque town of Hermanus, providing a comfortable and scenic retreat to cap off the day’s exploration.

Our adventure continues as we leave where False Bay ends, and the iconic Cape of Good Hope begins. Following the breathtaking coastal road, we reach the Cape of Good Hope National Park, a place steeped in maritime history. This location signifies the point where a ship starts to navigate more eastward than southward, adding a historical and geographical significance to our journey.
Exploring the Cape of Good Hope National Park, we visit the iconic Lighthouse, taking in panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. Our coastal expedition then takes us along the scenic Cape Peninsula, leading us straight into the vibrant city of Cape Town.
As the day comes to a close, you’ll find comfort and relaxation in Cape Town, where your overnight stay promises a tranquil and convenient retreat after a day filled with exploration and stunning natural beauty.
