This 7-day tour offers a rare opportunity to explore Libya’s ancient Roman cities, desert oases, and Berber mountain villages. From the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Leptis Magna and Sabratha to the remote plateaus of the Jebel Nafusa, you’ll experience the diverse beauty and complex heritage of a land at the crossroads of Africa and the Mediterranean.
Arrive in Tripoli, where your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, take a light walk through Martyrs’ Square, passing Ottoman and Italian colonial architecture. Enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Today you’ll explore the magnificent Leptis Magna, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Walk through the Severan Arch, amphitheater, marketplace, and baths, all overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Return to Tripoli in the evening.
Drive west to visit Sabratha, another UNESCO-listed Roman city. Tour its well-preserved theater, temples, and mosaics. En route back to Tripoli, stop at a seaside village for fresh seafood lunch. Optional visit to the Tripoli Museumin the Red Castle.
Head south into the Jebel Nafusa mountains, home to Libya’s Amazigh (Berber) communities. Visit Ghadames, a whitewashed desert town with traditional architecture, and explore nearby granaries and cave dwellings in villages like Nalut or Yefren.
Spend the day exploring the UNESCO-listed town of Ghadames, known as “the Pearl of the Desert.” Visit its old walled city, ancient mosques, and underground water channels. In the afternoon, enjoy tea with a Berber family and learn about traditional desert life.
Drive back to Tripoli through scenic desert and mountain landscapes. Enjoy a relaxing final evening walking through Tripoli’s medina, shopping for carpets, spices, or Tuareg silver.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your international flight.
