Expect an authentic island adventure that blends nature, culture, and relaxation. Travel by boat between the islands, explore traditional Bijagós communities with local guides, and discover the diverse ecosystems of Orango National Park on guided nature walks. Accommodation is comfortable yet simple, reflecting the remote nature of the archipelago. Boat schedules and some activities may be influenced by tides and weather conditions, adding to the expedition-style experience. This tour is ideal for travellers seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations, meaningful cultural encounters, and unspoiled natural beauty.
Upon arrival in Bissau, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, meet your local guide for a comprehensive briefing covering the Bijagós Archipelago, island customs, safety guidelines, and conservation efforts. If time permits, enjoy a leisurely walk through the city before your overnight stay in Bissau.
After breakfast, depart by motorboat for Bubaque Island, the gateway to the Bijagós Archipelago. Upon arrival, check into a comfortable island hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the island, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Depending on sea conditions, there may be an opportunity for kayaking along the coastline. Please note that kayaking is subject to weather, wind, and tidal conditions to ensure guest safety.
Travel by boat to Canhabaque Island for an immersive cultural excursion. Accompanied by knowledgeable local guides, explore the island by motorbike as you travel between traditional villages. Meet local residents, learn about their customs and daily life, observe traditional crafts, and enjoy authentic cultural interactions that provide a genuine insight into the unique heritage of the Bijagós people. Return to Bubaque for the evening.
Set out for a full-day excursion to Orango National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for its rich biodiversity. Accompanied by an experienced park ranger, enjoy guided walks through palm forests, wetlands, and coastal habitats while searching for a variety of birdlife and the park’s famous saltwater hippos. Return to your hotel in Bubaque for an overnight stay.
Enjoy a relaxed day discovering more of Bubaque Island at your own pace. Depending on sea conditions, optional kayaking may be available along designated coastal areas. Alternatively, unwind on the beach, explore the local community, or simply enjoy the tranquil island atmosphere.
After breakfast, board the scheduled boat back to Bissau. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Spending the final night in Bissau provides flexibility in case of weather or tidal changes that may affect boat schedules and ensures a stress-free connection with your international flight.
