Upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe or Chileka Airport in Blantyre, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to Cape Maclear, a picturesque village on the southern shores of Lake Malawi. Nestled within Lake Malawi National Park, this area is known for its calm, clear waters and laid-back atmosphere. After check-in at a charming lakeside eco-lodge in Chembe Village, take time to relax and settle in, enjoying dinner and your first night by the lake.
Spend the day exploring the natural beauty and biodiversity of Lake Malawi. Begin with a morning of snorkeling and kayaking in the crystal-clear waters, where you’ll encounter vibrant cichlid fish unique to the lake. Visit Otter Point, a popular viewpoint and snorkel site, and take a guided walk through local fishing villages to engage with community life. As the day winds down, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the lake. Return to your eco-lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, check out and depart for Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi’s premier wildlife destinations. The scenic drive takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Upon arrival, check in at your safari lodge or tented camp located inside or near the park. In the late afternoon, embark on an exciting evening game drive to spot elephants, antelopes, and possibly nocturnal predators. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge in the park.
Your day begins with an early morning game drive, offering opportunities to see iconic African wildlife such as black rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and lions. After returning for lunch and a short rest, head out again—this time on a boat safari along the Shire River. This water-based safari provides up-close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. Enjoy the serene atmosphere of the river and surrounding landscapes before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you’ll travel south to Majete Wildlife Reserve near Chikwawa, a drive of approximately three hours. Majete is a conservation success story and now home to all of the Big Five. Check in at the lodge and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure on your own
Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.
Today is dedicated to wildlife viewing in Majete, with morning and afternoon game drives offering a high chance of spotting the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino. In between game drives, relax at your accommodation or take part in optional activities such as a visit to nearby villages or birdwatching. Enjoy your final safari dinner under the stars and spend the night at the lodge or campground inside the reserve.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to either Lilongwe or Blantyre for your international departure. Time permitting, your journey may include optional stops at local markets or cultural sites along the way. Please ensure that international flights are scheduled for after 2:00 PM to allow ample travel time.
