Day 1 Arrival in Lagos & City Highlights Tour

Welcome to Lagos, Nigeria’s largest and most dynamic city! Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take some time to relax and refresh. Begin your cultural exploration with a visit to the National Museum Lagos, home to fascinating artifacts, including terracotta sculptures from the ancient Nok culture, traditional masks, and historical relics.

Continue your adventure at the Lekki Conservation Centre, a peaceful nature reserve offering an escape from the city buzz. Don’t miss the canopy walkway, the longest in Africa, which provides panoramic views of the lush forest. Next, visit the renowned Nike Art Gallery, one of the largest art spaces in Nigeria. Here, you can browse an impressive collection of contemporary Nigerian art, textiles, and sculptures from across the country.

In the evening, head to Lekki Market, a vibrant local hub where you can shop for handmade crafts, traditional fabrics, beads, and souvenirs. Enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant and be sure to try iconic Nigerian dishes like Jollof rice, Suya (spicy grilled meat), or Pounded Yam with Egusi soup.

Day 2Historical Day Trip to Badagry

Embark on a meaningful journey to Badagry, a coastal town west of Lagos rich in history and cultural significance, approximately 2–3 hours by car. Begin your visit at the Badagry Heritage Museum, where exhibits detail Nigeria’s pivotal role in the transatlantic slave trade. Next, continue to the First Storey Building in Nigeria, built in 1845, which stands as an important landmark of colonial history and Christian missionary activity in the region.

Take a guided walk to the somber Point of No Return, a path once taken by enslaved Africans as they were forced onto ships bound for the Americas. The walk is a reflective and powerful experience, connecting visitors with the emotional weight of history. Afterward, unwind at Badagry Beach, where you can relax, enjoy the ocean breeze, or grab a local snack from beachside vendors.

Return to Lagos for a relaxing evening. You can unwind at your hotel or explore the vibrant Lagos nightlife, perhaps enjoying a drink at a rooftop bar in Victoria Island or experiencing live music in Ikeja.

Hotel: Zino Continental Hotel

Day 3Discover the Charm of Abuja

Fly from Lagos to Abuja, Nigeria’s serene and modern capital city, with an approximate 1-hour flight. Begin your day with a visit to the stunning Nigerian National Mosque, renowned for its grand golden dome and beautiful Islamic architecture. It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in the city, and visitors are welcome outside of prayer hours to admire its design.

Afterward, take a short walk to the nearby Nigerian National Christian Centre, equally impressive with its modern design and peaceful ambiance, reflecting the country’s religious diversity. Spend a tranquil afternoon at Millennium Park, the largest public park in Abuja. Enjoy a peaceful stroll through its lush, well-maintained gardens, grab some local snacks, or relax with a casual picnic in this serene space.

In the evening, head to Jabi Lake Mall, a popular spot for both locals and visitors. Here, you can shop for fashion, electronics, and Nigerian-made products, or simply relax by the lakeside. For dinner, dine at one of the many restaurants inside the mall or nearby, and be sure to try classic Nigerian dishes like Pounded Yam with Egusi soup, Ofada rice, or Pepper Soup.

Hotel: Sinclair Guest House

Day 4Discover the Historic Heart of Kano

Take a morning flight to Kano, one of West Africa’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a major cultural center in Northern Nigeria. Begin your visit at the Gidan Makama Museum, housed in a 15th-century palace. The museum showcases traditional Hausa architecture and features exhibits on the region’s history, arts, and royal heritage, offering a deep dive into Kano’s rich cultural past.

In the afternoon, explore the ancient Kano City Walls and Gates, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. These impressive structures, which once served to protect the city, are among the largest traditional city walls still standing in Africa. Next, visit the Emir’s Palace, a symbol of Kano’s long-standing monarchy and traditional authority. While the interior is typically closed to the public, the architecture and cultural significance of the palace grounds make it a worthwhile stop.

In the evening, head to Kurmi Market, one of the oldest and largest markets in Nigeria. Dating back to the 15th century, it remains a bustling center for trading leather goods, local crafts, spices, textiles, and traditional Hausa items. For dinner, enjoy Northern Nigerian specialties like Tuwo Shinkafa (rice pudding) and Miyan Kuka (baobab leaf soup), often served with meat or fish.

Hotel: Prince Hotel Kano

Day 5Nature and Relaxation in Jos

Embark on a scenic drive to Jos, the capital of Plateau State, known for its pleasant climate, rolling hills, and natural beauty. Start your day at the Jos Wildlife Park, one of the largest in Nigeria. Spread over a vast area, the park is home to lions, elephants, monkeys, and a wide variety of birds, making it a peaceful place to enjoy nature and spot wildlife in its natural habitat.

In the afternoon, head to the National Museum in Jos, which features a notable collection of Nok terracotta sculptures, ethnographic exhibits, and archaeological findings that shed light on Nigeria’s ancient civilizations. Next, explore the Shere Hills, a range of rocky outcrops offering excellent hiking trails and stunning views over the Jos Plateau. It’s a great spot for photography, fresh air, and a bit of adventure to wrap up your trip.

In the evening, unwind at your hotel or enjoy a cozy local café to soak in the final moments of your Nigerian journey. For your farewell dinner, indulge in more of Nigeria’s diverse cuisine—perhaps try Kilishi (spicy dried meat), Moi Moi (steamed bean pudding), or Yam Porridge.
