Arrive at Bamako International Airport and connect with your domestic flight to Timbuktu, the fabled “City of 333 Saints.” Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Begin your exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage city by wandering through its ancient quarters and learning about its remarkable past as one of Africa’s great centers of commerce and Islamic learning. Stroll through the sandy streets lined with traditional Sudanese-Sahelian architecture and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere that has defined Timbuktu for centuries. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Timbuktu.

Day 2Timbuktu and Saharan Heritage

After breakfast, embark on a full-day discovery of Timbuktu’s cultural and historical treasures. Visit the iconic Djingareyber Mosque and Sankoré Mosque, both renowned for their impressive earthen architecture and their significance as centers of Islamic scholarship. Learn about the city’s famous ancient manuscripts, which have preserved centuries of African history, science, and literature.

Continue to the outskirts of the city to visit traditional Bella settlements and gain insight into the customs and daily life of local communities.
