Fly into Tamanrasset from Algiers and meet your local Tuareg guide. After a short break and lunch in town, drive into the Ahaggar Mountains and visit the Assekrem Plateau, where desert monk Charles de Foucauld lived. Enjoy sweeping views of lava-formed peaks and desert valleys. Before sunset, explore a nearby Tuareg encampment where you’ll share mint tea, learn about Tuareg customs, and help prepare dinner. Camp overnight under the stars.

Wake early for sunrise over the Ahaggar peaks, followed by a simple breakfast. Today’s exploration includes a light desert hike or camel ride, guided by locals through sandy trails and ancient dry riverbeds. After a picnic lunch, visit nearby prehistoric rock engravings that tell stories from a time when this region was green and filled with wildlife. Return to camp for a traditional Tuareg meal and music around the fire.
